Ep. 41 Winning the Battle Within with Resilience Educator, Sylvester Jenkins III

Your start doesn’t determine your finish. Resilience Educator, Sylvester Jenkins III knows all about this first-hand and talks about it in one of his recent books, Winning the Battle Within. Sylvester grew up in a single-family, low-income household, suffered after military combat from PTSD and depression, and went through a devastating divorce. These are just a few of the many adversities he’s faced in life. It took working with behavioral health resources and being put in a leadership position over others in the military, for Sylvester to fully tap into his limitless resilience. He always had it in him and with self-exploration and the right resources, he’s not only been able to harness it further, but he’s been able to help thousands do the same. At one point, Sylvester pondered suicide. He’s not alone – this thought has crossed the minds of many. The paradigm shift of prioritizing mental health is helping to save lives, but there is far more work to be done. Thank goodness Sylvester rose above his adversities because he is now a pillar of hope for so many.
